Cleaning windows may not be something that you love to do. But the end results of a good window cleaning session are always great. Ideally, you should wash your windows two times a year. However, it is a task that a lot of people don't really look forward to. Using a spray cleaner and a wadded-up paper towels or newspapers is generally not a good idea.
If you are one of those people who use the above mentioned method, you are basically just moving dirt all over the window. In addition to this, using this method can result in a static charge, and what it does is attract dust and dirt. And that is exactly why the window looks dirty again as soon as the window cleaning session is over.
But there is no reason to worry because there are some tips and tricks that can help you clean the windows the right way. And all you need is a squeegee and some other tools that are probably already in your house.
Cleaning the Windows: Strip Applicator
Picture windows usually require to be cleaned with big tools. The strip applicator's long cloth head can soak up a big amount of soapy water, which means that it can remove the dirt without inflicting any damage to the glass. For a good cleaning solution, mix up a just a tiny bit of dishwasher liquid with warm water.
Use a Squeegee to Wipe the Window Clean
If you are right-handed, form a reverse letter ''S'' by pulling the squeegee over the soapy pane, but make sure to start at the top left. And if you are left-handed, do it the other way around. Use a lint-free rag to wipe the squeegee's blade clean at the end of each stroke. Two things that are great for this task are old linen napkins and cloth diapers.
Remove Any Remaining Water
Use a damp, wrung-dry chamois to remove any water that is still present on the edges of the glass. Using a damp, wrung-dry chamois for this task is always a good idea because it can soak up any remaining water without leaving any streaks. Once you remove all the water, use a rag to dry the windowsill.
